The museum on the south-east corner of Registan Square
has a copy of the Afrasiab frieze and material on ancient sites near
Termez which are still hard to get to. The room on Samarkand's role in
the Bolshevik revolution will doubtless soon be 'reorganized'. Meanwhile
it still contains an immortal oil painting of mullahs proclaiming the victory
of the Soviet In the Registan, and a fine selection of anti-capitalist
posters.
